CDL Drivers (CDL-A and CDL-B)

Refer to Compensation Plan

Primary responsibility is to drive over-the-road trucks to deliver equipment or materials to job site locations. Experience with the transportation, loading, and unloading of equipment and/or materials, and secure for transport. Knowledge of local major and minor roadways and the ability to effectively use maps and directions for efficient delivery routing

  • Valid driver's license with a Class B CDL certification (Class A preferred but will interview with Class B) and DOT Physical Examination (Medical card)
  • 2 years of experience preferred with verifiable over-the-road experience operating commercial vehicles
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Motor Carrier Safety regulations (DOT guidelines) with adherence to safety procedures and policies of Blackjack Paving.
  • Exhibit safe driving behavior/demonstrate a high level of safety awareness on the roadways
  • Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, and dusty environments.
  • Ability to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, and the general public in a courteous, professional manner at all times, with the ability to read and write clearly.
  • Employee must be able to climb equipment’s ladder to reach the operator’s seat and periodic lifting of up to 50 LBS.
  • Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Possess a "Can do" attitude and be willing to do what is necessary to exceed customer expectations.

Pavement Maintenance Laborer

Hourly, Non-exempt

The paving and pavement maintenance laborer will perform tasks involving physical labor at parking lots and roadways by operating one or several types of maintenance equipment.  This position may also require routine repair and maintenance of equipment in addition to other duties.

  • General laborer duties associated with asphalt paving, patching, or prep crews.
  • Use of push blower and/or wire broom to clean surface prior to application of seal coat or crack fill material.
  • Preparation of surface utilizing an asphalt crack cleaner to open surface cracks prior to filling.
  • Application of crack fill material utilizing a crack seal kettle wand and/or a crack seal melting pot.
  • Application of seal coat material utilizing a long-handled squeegee and/or spray wand.
  • Assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices.
  • Manual labor including shoveling, brooming, and raking.
  • Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, and dusty environments.
  • Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements.

Sealcoat Support Assistant

Hourly, Non-exempt

Provide support to field employees and sealcoat manager on day-to-day operations level.  Work closely with sealcoat manager on upcoming jobs, current jobs, and post job related aspects.

  • Provide overall support to the activities of the sealcoat field employees.
  • Provide hands-on assistance/fill-in and perform field duties as necessary.
  • Record keeping of sealcoat inventory and purchasing items; stock and restock when necessary.
  • Communicate and work directly with operations, field employees, and scheduling.
  • Communicate with supervisors and estimators before, during, and after job completion.
  • Pre-job and post-job reporting to discuss parking lot conditions and additional needs for project success.
  • Effective listening and communication correctly to ensure we exceed customers’ expectations.
  • Participate in safety training to gain skill and knowledge in order to help streamline processes.
  • Perform jobsite quality control checks, report concerns of quality and safety to sealcoat manager.
  • Communication skills, ability to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, and the general public in a courteous, professional manner at all times.

Sales Representative

Salary, Exempt

Key position which will involve interfacing with new potential clients and existing clients and matching their requirements with Blackjack Paving’s offerings.

  • Seeking out new customers and sales opportunities for driving revenue through inbound channels and lead follow up.
  • Build long-term relationships with key contacts at target customers.
  • Answer customers’ questions about products, prices, availability, product uses, credit terms, equipment, and any other concern or issue timely.
  • Consult with clients after sales or contract signings to resolve problems and provide ongoing support.
  • Contact prospective clients to explain products and services and solicit sales.
  • Estimate or quote prices, credit or contract terms, warranties, and work with scheduling to meet client expectations.
  • Identify prospective clients by using business directories, following leads from existing clients, participating in organizations and clubs, and attending trade shows and conferences.
